In Portugal, the fire that started in the early hours of Saturday, in the municipality of Covilhã, remains uncontrolled and worries the authorities. On the ground, fighting the flames, there are more than 500 firefighters supported by 157 vehicles and 7 air assets that were removed at the beginning of the night.


The latest information reported that there are no houses in danger, that the flames have already reached Serra da Estrela and that National Road 338, which connects Piornos to Manteigas, remains closed.


During the afternoon, a hotel in Manteigas was evacuated and three firefighters had to receive medical assistance.
